Acronym alert: OHIM Rebrand to EUIPO!

TM Logo

The official body that examines and grants European Registered Designs (CRDs) and Trade Marks (CTMs) will be changing its official name from the OHIM to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) from 23rd March 2016.  The change is in line with other patent office re-brands to incorporate the Intellectual Property Office acronym, reflecting that these bodies grant a range of IP rights and not just patents.   In addition, the Community Trade Mark (CTM) becomes the European Union Trade Mark (EUTM).  The status of existing CTMs will not change – they will simply assume the new name.
